Health 2 Go (H2GO) 11th Refresher Training for Health Volunteers

Periodic refresher training sessions are conducted to ensure that Community-Based Agents (CBAs) stay updated with the Health2Go modules. The recent 11th Refresher Training for CBAs of the Wawase CHPS Zone in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, held on March 31, 2023, was a coordinated effort to enhance the technical expertise of CBAs as essential healthcare providers.

Led by facilitators from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) with support from the H2Go team, the training focused on the identification and treatment of common illnesses like diarrhea, pneumonia, and malaria, as well as the referral of complex cases. All CBAs from the six communities of the Wawase CHPS Zone participated, including a newly appointed CBA.

The training utilized interactive teaching methods like demonstrations and videos to reorient CBAs on the Health2Go principal domains. Dr. Stephen Manortey, Health2Go Ghana Site Principal Investigator, commended the commitment and diligence of CBAs in reducing child morbidity and mortality. He encouraged knowledge sharing among CBAs and emphasized Health2Go’s intention to expand to selected rural communities in the Yilo Krobo Municipality, aiming to address challenges faced by previous community health worker programs, such as insufficient equipment, inadequate training, limited supervision, and weak community engagement.
