Practicum Instructions

As per the CEPH guidelines, the practicum should encompass a minimum of two tangible outputs that provide value to the community partner. These outputs can take various forms such as needs assessments, white papers, comprehensive tests, videos, digital creations, presentations, public service announcements (PSAs), educational materials, brochures, preliminary policy drafts, or evaluation reports.

To initiate your practicum and officially enroll in practicum credit hours, it’s essential to reach out to the Practicum Coordinator for authorization. Please note that the counting of hours for your practicum cannot commence until these forms have received approval from the Practicum Director.

Instructions for the Final Paper

Upon successfully completing the practicum experience, it is incumbent upon the student to compile a concise 3-page summary paper that meticulously recounts their practicum journey. This paper should adhere to the prescribed format, encompassing sections such as Abstract, Introduction, Background, Methods, a comprehensive list and thorough descriptions of the Public Health Competencies addressed, Results, Recommendations, Conclusions, References, and Appendices.

The practicum director will assign a credit/no-credit grade for the practicum based on a comprehensive assessment that takes into consideration multiple elements. These elements include the student’s performance evaluations, the mentor’s appraisal of the student’s contributions, the quality of the 3-page report, and the attainment of the two products as outlined in the Objectives Form.
